Google DeepMind scans
In collaboration with the British National Health Service (NHS) and Moorfieds Eye Hospital in London, Google DeepMind will investigate whether computers can detect eye problems in users. The aim is to prevent blurred vision and blindness.
As a result Deepmind receive a million anonymous eye scans. These form the basis of a database that eventually will allow computers to detect vision disorders. This information will mark a breakthrough for ophthalmologists. Indeed, in case of problems especially caused by diabetes or age-related, the doctor will be able to quickly treat vision loss or even prevent possible aggravation thanks to this technology.
