SmartFin invests in MySQL founder

SmartFin, who is very interested in young companies in the financial sector, injects € 2.8 million as part of a capitalization phase of the Finnish MariaDB. In all, this start-up has already collected 11 million euros during the same phase, especially from previous existing investors, the newspaper De Tijd .

MariaDB currently has 12 million users in 45 countries. Wikipedia, SAP and HP are particular clients. The man who founded the company and who is the current CTO, called Michael Windenius, the very one who created MySQL, before selling it in 2008 at Sun Microsystems. Both companies are still the names of his two daughters.
